Sudan strain more at risk
The WHO said on Tuesday that a sample from a 24-year-old man had been identified as a relatively rare Sudan strain, marking the first time in nearly 10 years that the Sudan strain has been detected in Uganda, including the 2019 Zaire strain of Ebola virus. Outbreaks were also observed. The WHO has said in the past that current vaccines against Ebola have been effective against the Zaire strain, but it is not clear whether they will be effective against the Sudan strain.
